Today (July 13) an Australian massage therapist, Irene Peters, visited the Salem Oregon School of Massage campus; she participated in the Massage Statute-Professional Regulation class taught by OSM Director Ray Siderius. She added the very interesting element of comparing Oregon’s licensing and practicing standards with those of Australia. (One interesting difference: here in the U.S. we have regulations which vary greatly from state-to-state, Australia has uniform national standards.)

Irene practices Remedial Therapeutic and Sports Massage and fitness coaching in the Sydney area of New South Wales, Australia, with much of her practice being referrals from other healthcare professionals. Also a runner and boxer (boxing exercises for upper body workouts), she leaves us with a lively, positive impression of the Aussie massage profession.

Irene volunteered to be a contact person if travelers are looking for a massage therapist in the Como suburb south of Sydney. Her email address is: dipeters@optusnet.com.au
Thank you, Irene, for adding an interesting and fun element, and potential international networking, to massage training at OSM.
