How to get your business on line and promote it.
On July 27, Rebekah L. Hickey, a Salem-based web designer, presented a lively, practical and interactive guide on making and improving a website to approximately 20 Salem area massage therapists and students. Her presentation, part of the LMT Gathering series at Oregon School of Massage in Salem, included:
• process and strategy for choosing a domain name
• ideas and sources for web hosting
• creating the website
• promoting the website
Rebekah provided examples of websites with commentary about their strengths and weaknesses; she identified software and other resources to consider. She discussed key considerations (e.g., using descriptive key words) in improving likelihood that clients will find you online.
Comments from participants included:
“She was very approachable & knowledgeable and great about answering specific questions. I appreciated the specific recommendations she had about WordPress. For people new to websites there were good specifics such as where to get a host, domain name, etc. Her visuals were good in that she had screenshots of what she was talking about.”
“It was very nice to have some ideas about how to set up your own site using the suggestions that she had. I think that many people were also pleased that they could pay her once and then make changes as they chose.”
