Massage Certificate Program

Our 640-hour Massage Certificate Program prepares students for licensure in Oregon. It teaches the use of various strokes to manipulate soft tissues, engaging the muscular, cardiovascular and nervous systems in order to reduce tissue tightness, enhance circulation, reduce pain and promote general relaxation. Students receive a foundation in Swedish massage and an introduction to Shiatsu techniques. The program requires 85 elective hours and 34 Advanced Practice Skills elective hours to explore a variety of massage techniques or specialize in a specific area of interest. Flexibility of Schedule

OSM’s Massage Certificate Program is unique in that you can fit classes in around your life, work, personal pursuits, children and more. Our program is made up of a variety of individual classes, so the length of time it takes to graduate depends on a variety of factors; scheduling, flexibility, number of courses and so on.

Length of Program

With flexibility in your schedule and a full-time commitment to school, you can complete in as little as 15 months. However, if you have other commitments and would like to take 1 or 2 classes per quarter, it may take you up to 2 years to complete the program.

Weekly Schedule

Each quarter is 10 weeks in length; most classes meet once per week for 3 hours per session, with some exceptions. Elective classes are generally scheduled over an entire weekend, a single Saturday/Sunday and occasional weekday classes.

Homework and Practice Massages

The program is a rigorous one. You can expect 2 to 3 hours of reading, practice massages, homework and study for every 1 hour you’re in class. Tutors may be available. There are also Teaching Assistant opportunities.
